Sculptra
Deep wrinkles and folds are a thing of the past.
Sculptra Aesthetic is a unique type of injectable that can stimulate collagen growth to restore facial volume and a more youthful appearance. If you are bothered by deep facial wrinkles and folds, you can expect long-lasting, natural results from Sculptra treatment with our skin specialists.
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a biostimulator or a type of injectable filler that stimulates natural collagen production. While other fillers and injectables may use hyaluronic acid to plump the skin, Sculptra uses a biocompatible substance called poly-L lactic acid (PLLA) to encourage this new growth. Collagen is a protein in the skin that gives it elasticity, texture, and volume. As the skin ages, collagen production slows down and the skin loses volume, leading to skin sagging and wrinkles. Sculptra turns back the clock on skin aging by replenishing collagen for long-lasting results.
Who is a Candidate for Sculptra?
Almost any healthy adult who is bothered by moderate skin laxity (skin sagging) and deep facial folds can benefit from Sculptra. If you have an active skin infection, a history of bleeding problems, or are prone to keloid scarring, you might not be a candidate for treatment. Your medical history and the results you hope to achieve will all be discussed at your consultation to determine whether Sculptra injections are right for you.
Sculptra can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns, including:
Nasolabial folds
Hollow cheeks or temples
Marionette lines
Age-related volume loss
For younger patients, we might first recommend a hyaluronic acid filler that does not last as long and can be easily dissolved if you do not like the results. Other injectables and fillers may also be more beneficial for fine lines, wrinkles, and earlier signs of aging.
The Sculptra Procedure
Sculptra treatment sessions are quick, virtually painless, and performed in the comfort of our relaxing treatment rooms. Your provider will use a fine needle to inject the Sculptra filler into the desired treatment areas discussed during your consultation. Although most patients do not find these injections to be painful, a topical numbing cream can be applied at the start of your procedure to ensure your comfort. Patients must request numbing cream when scheduling their consultation since additional time will be added to the procedure.
Sculptra Results
There is minimal recovery and downtime after Sculptra treatments. Mild injection site swelling, bruising, and tenderness to the touch are common side effects but they will improve within 1-2 weeks. To minimize swelling, we recommend that patients avoid strenuous exercise and sun exposure during this time. Results will develop gradually a few weeks after treatment as new collagen rebuilds and you can expect your skin improvements to last up to two years.
