RF microneedling treatment is performed in-office by highly trained skin care experts. As the microneedling device is passed over your skin, you will feel mild prickling and warmth from the radiofrequency energy. Topical numbing cream will be applied to keep you comfortable. Most patients do not find this treatment to be painful and it is typically completed in an hour or less, depending on the size of the treatment area.
Microneedling with Radiofrequency Results
After microneedling with radiofrequency, you can return to work, but some patients choose to take the rest of the day off. Mild swelling and skin redness are common and will take a few days to subside. During this time, you should avoid strenuous activity and sun exposure to minimize swelling and ease your discomfort. Improvements in skin tone and texture can start to be seen after a few weeks but it will take 3-6 months for complete results to develop. How many treatments you need will vary, but we often recommend 3-4 treatments to effectively treat moderate to severe skin conditions. Although microneedling results are not permanent, replenished collagen will improve the quality of your skin and give you a more youthful appearance for many years to come.
Combining RF microneedling with the CO2 laser peel combines the benefits of both treatments while maintaining very little downtime (1-2 days). When combining these treatments, expect to see the more immediate effects of the laser peel while the effects of the microneedle with radio frequency take several months to develop.
